KP Votes Resource Center
Welcome to the KP Votes Resource Center for the 2024 election season. Elections are quickly approaching and the outcomes will have important implications for Kaiser Permanente, our members and communities. Every state has its own deadlines, ballot initiatives, and key dates, but that information is not always easy to find.
Kaiser Permanente is committed to promoting civic engagement and highlighting the strong correlation between healthy communities and democracy.
Proposition 1 β Expand and Strengthen Mental Health and Addiction Servicesβ SUPPORT
Proposition 1 aligns with Kaiser Permanenteβs vision around modernizing and transforming the stateβs mental health system by investing in behavioral health services, building desperately needed housing and mental health care settings, and supporting innovative programs to improve the delivery of mental health services for all Californians.
It also would modernize and transform the stateβs health care system by:
- Building desperately needed housing for people with mental illnesses and substance use disorder
- Adding more capacity for mental health care and drug and alcohol treatment
- Growing a diverse and well-trained workforce to provide mental health care and addiction service
βWe believe physical, social, and mental health are essential to a personβs total health. Thatβs why Kaiser Permanente has made huge investments in behavioral health,β said Greg A. Adams, Kaiser Permanente chair and chief executive officer. βProposition 1 presents a big opportunity for Californians. We can vote to take bold and necessary steps to make progress toward ensuring our state is a place where every Californian who needs care can get it.β
