Welcome to the KP Votes Resource Center for the 2024 election season. Elections are quickly approaching and the outcomes will have important implications for Kaiser Permanente, our members and communities. Every state has its own deadlines, ballot initiatives, and key dates, but that information is not always easy to find.
Kaiser Permanente is committed to promoting civic engagement and highlighting the strong correlation between healthy communities and democracy.
Ballot Initiatives
Kaiser Permanente supports ballot initiatives in California, including:
Sonoma County Childcare Health Initiative – Support
Establishes a ΒΌ cent sales tax raising more than $30,000,000 annually to exclusively fund services for children up to 5 years.
Oakland Measure Z – Support
The Oakland Community Violence Reduction and Emergency Response Act renews the 2014 parcel tax and parking surcharge for 9 years in support of reducing crime, human trafficking and improving safety and security.
Ballot Initiatives
Kaiser Permanente supports ballot initiatives in California, including:
Sonoma County Childcare Health Initiative – Support

Proposition B in San Francisco – Support
Proposition B is a general obligation bond measure that would allow the City to borrow up to $390 million to fund reparations and improvements to the cityβs aging public health facilities, some of which have faced threats of closure in recent years.
Measure Q in San Bruno – Support
Measure Q would issue up to $102,000,000 in general obligation bonds to finance the costs of city improvement projects.
Elk Grove Measure N – Support
Measure N would authorize $542 million in bonds to make improvements to elementary, middle and high school facilities in the Elk Grove Unified School District (EGUSD).
Ballot Initiatives
Kaiser Permanente supports ballot initiatives in Oregon, including:
Hillsboro Advisory Vote – Support
The advisory vote would require the City of Hillsboro to begin fluoridating its drinking water. Fluoridated water is a safe and cost-effective way to strengthen teeth and prevent cavities, especially benefiting community members who lack regular access to dental care.
Clackamas Community College Bond Renewal- Support
Clackamas Community College is proposing a renewal bond that would generate $120 million, along with an additional $28 million in matching funds. Approximately $100 million of these funds would be allocated for new construction, while the remaining funds would be used for building updates, security, technology, sports facilities, and the modernization of learning spaces.
